The Sheldonian Theatre, in Oxford’s city centre, is the official ceremonial hall of the University of Oxford. As well as university ceremonies such as graduation it’s used for music concerts and lectures but never for drama. It was commissioned by Gilbert Sheldon, Archbishop of Canterbury in 1664 and designed by Christopher Wren, who also designed St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
